Dog of the Month

GCH CH Reise Breaking Through Silence

Congratulations! Reise Breaking Through Silence has won the SD Fever Dog of the Month Award!

Q: How do you feel about her very successful career winnings, like $222 in earnings, six Best in Breeds, and 935 dogs beaten, as well as the accomplishment of finishing a GCH in ten days?

A: Honestly, I wasn't too happy with her throughout her showing career. I've had many great dogs here, and she just isn't one of them.

Q: What about her pedigree? Did you have big expectations when you bred her parents?

A: I always have big expectations when I breed any dog of mine. Wildsyde and I have worked hard on getting where the Pembroke is today (she actually has worked longer!) and of course, some help from kennels on the way such has Pups of Perfectin and Snow Cloud.

Her breeding was from a popular male of mine, CH Reise Korn, out of a bitch Reise Undead. I wanted to breed her, but didn't feel the need to breed her to an outside stud (which I try to do often so the gene pool doesn't get to muddy.) Reise Undead only had one litter, and was forever-homed during her second pregnancy due to another player. Breaking Through Silence was the only pup in the litter who out stood from the rest, so I quickly sessioned her and began her showing career. I'll be honest, I loved her at the time. She was a high SOP and overall looked decent. After her showing career I gave her to Mandi at Kool Dogs to help with the breeding program, thinking that an amazing dog would give her a good start. As it turns out, Breaking Through Silence is NOT a mother!! She did horribly with breeding to the best male, but I'm not giving up on her, I think there IS a boy out there for her, just got to find the right traits to match up with hers.

Q: Which traits does she have that make her better than other Pembroke Welsh Corgis? Worse?

A: She's old, so she isn't the best anymore, but still a high sop for the breed. The traits I like on her are FQ, HQ, and TN&B. I like those nice blues!

Q: What are your future plans for her? Will we possibly see a dam of Merit award anytime soon???

A: YES! Yes, right now she has 3 champion offspring, my best girl CH Reise Birds and Butterflies, CH Reise Flick of the Wrist, and CH Reise Death on Four Legs. Just two more and we got ourselves a bronze dam!

Thank you to Welsh Corgi Kennels for letting us interview her!
